Astoria Residence
Originally built as a 3 family, this standalone 1930's brick box was converted into an elegant modern home that features a rich materials palette. The building transpired through a complete internal structural redesign and rebuild, introducing a central two-floor open space. A custom fabricated concrete, oak, and steel staircase/bookcase is the focal point of the house and backdrop to the double height custom kitchen. Radiant heat is used throughout the house, in the kitchen, large-scale custom concrete tiles were used to create a thermal mass underfoot.
